As a fitness instructor + dance teacher (Tanya) and a yoga teacher (Claire)…
when it comes to exercise – we have 50+ professional years between us.
(Amongst other things!)
And as such we have some very simple advice for you with regards to exercise.
Do it every day.
- It doesn’t need to be fancy.
- It doesn’t have be extreme
- It doesn’t have to be much – but it does have to happen.
It could be a walk to the end of the road and back while the kettle boils,
a four-minute workout from the Vault.
a four-minute workout from the Vault.
..to one of the hour-long runs or bootcamp-style workouts.
Or it could be something you do already!
The workouts are not prescriptive.
You don’t have to do them in any particular order.
If your fitness test felt particularly tough –
or wasn’t possible yet, then know that when you come to do it again in a month’s time it’s going to be better.
And if you do a tiny bit of exercise a day it will be better.
And if you do more … then it will be even better.
That stuff is up to you.
If you want to make a big difference to your fitness – you have to be in it for the long term.
And if for now, that’s just a little bit – then that’s how it must be.
And if you need more to feel as though you’re working – then that is how it must be for you.
Make sure you are working close to your limit – but not beyond it.
That limit will change.
You’ll find things getting easier.
You’ll find things getting easier.
We’ve included enough in this Vault to get you started but this is going to grow each month – try something to see how you find it.
If you’re not sure – watch first.
Stay safe.
Injuries set you back both physically and mentally.
As with all exercise, if you have a medical condition or are unsure –
check with your GP or whoever else is looking after your health first.
Have a browse and make a start.
Don’t forget to record each day when you’ve done your exercise/activity or other Power-Up.
Don’t forget to record each day when you’ve done your exercise/activity or other Power-Up.
Later this month, when we will be adding a new 12-Week fitness programme which guides you through what to do each day that you might like to take part in with other people.
We will let you know about that – but as ever… we don’t want anyone to feel overwhelmed,
so just choose something and have a go!
