I have a challenge for you.
Are you up for it?
Money where your mouth is?
I love a survey..
You get to the nub of the matter.
When you ask people in real life how things are,
people are generally polite.
How was the class? Excellent!
Did you enjoy PT? Yes, it’s brilliant..
Loving fitcamp? YAYYY!
But it is only in private that you get the truth…
I sent some surveys out this week –
and immediately I trawled through to find the
negative ones.
I like those best..
Those are the ones you can learn from.
And I will fess up…something came out loud
and clear with Personal Training.
Slimming Clubs are doing something better than I am.
What people told me is that they loved the initial
fitness testing,
and weighing and measuring we do at the outset.
(which I never really had top of my list of ‘must-dos’)
and then more some weeks later
And then it kind of stopped…
From my point of view, I could see people shrinking
and shaping up,
and talking about the meals I had written recipes for
that they were enjoying.
And stopping eating crap.
And so I thought – we are on the right track, let’s just
keep on, keeping on.
S’all good.
MISTAKE
In my rants about everything I thought was wrong with Slimming Clubs
and my inability to understand why people put themselves through that…
I ignored the number 1 reason (in one of the surveys I sent)
….people said they went.
IT WAS THE WEIGHING!
(it was also the number 1 thing they DIDN’T like.
That shit will mess with the analytics,
and possibly the space-time continuum..)
I have spent the last week writing a manual, looking at goal setting
and I realised, I hadn’t defined REALLY clear goals with my PT Clients.
(yes, we had done general size and shape things…
and love fitness goals)
We’d done general ones – but I realise now that what is needed are
smaller achievable ones along the way.
DERRRRR
I know about this stuff.
What a dinlow.
And the total clincher was this:
The three ladies who I HAD made a very very prescriptive plans for
were the ones who had the most success.
I mean SERIOUS success.
It’s not always about weighing.
(it was for them – but not always)
Or measuring.
Or dress sizes.
Sometimes it is other stuff.
Sometimes it is a full nights sleep.
Or finding the courage to stand up to your mother in law
about the Christmas plans
Could be…actually going to the baby group
and not being scared of what the other mums will think.
Health and Fitness isn’t just about your abs,
or choosing goats cheese over cheddar.
And nothing is separate.
But exercise is the place to start.
It all starts to fall into place when you are exercising.
THIS is the stuff you generously told me.
So I thank you for all your answers.
I had nearly 100 in total.
And there is no point asking people questions;
and then talking no notice of what they think.
So here’s how it is going to go….
EVERYONE.
EV.ERY.ONE!!!
Coming to Personal Training and FitCamp.
Is going to have an agreement with me,
and a plan.
Your plan.
Not a one-size-fits-all plan.
With agreed steps, of what you are going to achieve.
And by when.
It is not the weighing they are getting right
at the Slimming Clubs
it’s the accountability.
And it seems that accountability done badly
is better than none at all.
Someone checking.
Someone motivated enough to make sure you
achieve the things you want to
(I look bad if you don’t, apart from anything else)
A lady stood in my studio the other day,
and said – don’t you think it’s pathetic that I can’t
do this stuff without you telling me to?
NO. I DIDN’T.
Richard Branson has mentors.
You could cut your own hair…but you don’t.
You can Google how to unblock your drain…
but probably better to get a man in.
Why wouldn’t you ask someone who knows
what to say, and how to help you,
because they are trained and experienced to do it???
I can’t criticise a thing and then not offer you
something better.
So let’s do it better.
Currently..
FitCamp/PTers:
- You have a food course and plan
- And food diaries
- And meal planners
- And exercise workouts/DVD for at home
- And 50+ recipes
- And an online support group
- And classes
- And guided meditations
- And weight loss hypnosis
- And personal training…
And now you have …
ME EVEN MORE ON YOUR BACK!!!!!
(If you have ever done any professional dance/fitness
training with me you will know that is quite a thing)
And….While we are on the subject….
Wednesday nights are changing.
We are having a break tomorrow,
as it’s my birthday – I shall be 26 (just as I have been
for the past fifteen years).
But the week after… we are back with something
a Wednesday night LEVEL UP.
The stuff you’ve loved – yes
but also Food, and accountability…
We’re putting our food plan where our mouths are..
Tell you about that tomorrow.
LAST THING
***A Challenge..***
For EVERYONE, not just FitCamp and PTers.
I want you to add me on FB if you haven’t already
with the message: FOOD CHALLENGE
And I will add you to a special group.
From this second… for 5 days…
>>I want you to get your phone
and take a photo of
EVERYTHING you eat and drink.
Just a quick snap.< <<
No point not being honest.
Then upload it as an album and upload it to the group.
With descriptions of what is in each photo.
And then we work out how to improve things.
Are you brave enough?
It’s a big first step – but one you can do.
Tell you about the other stuff later this week.
But I am off to Chewton Glen for a birthday spa day tomorrow.
YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
When I come home…
I look forward to getting on your back.
After mine has had an Hawaiian massage.
Might even get my toe nails painted….
Right then – go on, charge your phone.
See you on the other side.
Love Tanya x
p.s. OH BTW if you didn’t take a survey,
why not have a go at the one below.
It is HUGELY helpful just to define things for yourself.
p.p.s I am so not going to get my toenails painted.
Too ticklish.
p.p.p.s You added me on FB yet? >>TANYA ON FB<<<
