We are a funny lot
– British Women.
We celebrate and slag off the same things at the same time.
Like confidence.
Nearly everyone I speak to mentions confidence
Usually – they wish they had more of it.
Women are attracted to it. Seriously, a man can have wonky teeth and be cross eyed
But with enough confidence and swagger women will find him irresistible.
BUT
When it comes to our own kind we tend to have different rules.
We confuse Self-Confidence with Self-Importance
Which is a very different kettle of fish. And not cool at all.
“She thinks she’s all that”
“She’s overconfident”
“She’s completely up herself”
(what the heck does that even mean??)
“Shes too full-on”
So we want self-confidence…. But then we don’t like it in others.
Or we decide that there’s a right amount.
12 Units of confidence a week? Any more and you are over the lady limit.
See I think that what happens is this.
Conveniently, when we see people having some of the traits we wish that we had
Like confidence
It holds up a mirror 2 inches from our face.
Makes us look at our fears our regrets. our shortcomings
And it’s uncomfortable.
“We all tell our story in the way that suits us best.”
So we find something to criticise about the self-confident woman.
Because she may not do things the exact way we would do them
To make ourselves feel better.
It also means we don’t have to do anything about it.
Like love, fresh air, water, sleep, good food, happiness….
I can see not one single reason that confidence should be rationed.
The more the better.
Self confidence, to me, means being happy in your own skin.
Feeling worthwhile, useful and valued.
And feeling relaxed and friendly towards the people you meet.
(Makes you way less sad, jealous, needy or bitchy too)
It’s hard to be happy for people when you don’t feel happy about yourself.
So I told you about Katherine the other day. About her amazing transformation.
From this lady
To this lady.
And whilst that is amazing, and spectacular.
What’s made me write to you today is this
An FB message she just sent me:
“You know what i love most about my new body is the confidence i have and the fact that i am strutting (i know longer just walk lol) around with a massive smile….
which seems to make complete strangers not only talk to me but comment on my outward appearance….
I’m getting discounts left right and centre yesterday new exhaust fitted..
quoted 130 the week before by the same guy this week we got chatting… price charged 100!
Today got chatting to the fruit man at the market he only charged me £10 for what should have been about £15 of fruit and veg!
Chicken breasts for a fiver from the butcher all because i stood and chatted to him too lol.
Loving life xx”
^^^^^^^^^^^^
Confidence.
Right there.
And while she thanked me
I didn’t do it.
I provided the means
Pretty PT Studio
Effective sessions
Daft games that get you fit
FitCamp
Exercise bands with cheeky slogans on
Pink boxing gloves…
Nice recipes that the family will eat too
Things like that.
My part of it was doing the best I could for her
And making it as fun as possible
But SHE actually DID it all.
Every press up,
Every good food choice
Every early night
She sculpted that new body… but she got so much more.
She got CONFIDENCE!
There is no crash diet, no slimming pill and no short cut that is going to give you that.
Look how she is strutting through this new, friendly, fun, discount-giving World.
Brightening the day of the people around her.
Because of her confidence.
A World that was always there – for all of us but without confidence… we don’t get to play in it.
It’s where everything else starts.
In the scheme of things – getting into shape isn’t that important really.
I probably shouldn’t own up to this but I am not really ‘into’ fitness.
I am more interested in people. And what will make them feel better.
Yes I eat broccoli, and yes I do burpees but I definitely would rather enjoy a a nice cuppatee and good Box Set in bed
And of occasion been mortal drunk, singing Annie Lennox songs on karaoke.
I have never woken up thinking
“yippee – time for press-ups!”
I just like what they do for me.
So I come up with cunning ways to make it fun…
And that’s what I make sure of for the people that come to train with me.
This is not me trying to persuade you to come along and do what Katherine did.
I have lots of others doing the exact same thing.
This is me telling you that when you are ready
And not before
You know where we are
