Detox days kickstart your fat burning and all the other
systems of the body with a helpful clean slate.
But that also goes on in your head too.
Those deadlines that catapult us back to where we want to be… when we are most energetic and motivated.
You decide when they are.
Are they every 3 months?
Every month?
Once a fortnight?
As many clean slates as you want.
Like the tired runner that drifts off the track
you can use these days to keep you on track.
In a positive, forward-moving, healthy way.
YOU choose when and why. Choose a day that will work for you.
A day to stay hydrated, eat simple light foods, meditate, relax and take stock.
Decide. Plan. Do.
You will need a juicer (borrow one from a friend if you don’t have one)

First Thing
6:30 Warm water with Lemon
Followed by: Daily Mindfulness Practice and yoga/exercise (see mindfulness and yoga units)
7 am Chia
Chia seeds give you fibre and omega-3 and omega-6 oils, calcium, potassium + magnesium.
Chia absorbs liquid and acts as an ‘intestinal jet wash’, moving everything efficiently through your system.
It helps to speed up your detox
To make Chia Drink (the night before – it’s worth the bother)
* Warm your water put in a cup and add your 3 tsp of chia seeds.
* Stir well till the chia seeds are evenly dispersed and start to swell. …
* The next day, get your cup out of the fridge. …
* Mix 1 cup of your chia seed ‘gel’ with 1 cup of the fresh juice of your choice and mix well.
7:30 Breakfast – Vegetable Juice.
*1 cucumber or 2 courgettes.
*small piece of root ginger grated,
*3 sprigs parsley and 1 carrot
9:15 Herbal tea of your choice
10:30 am Juice of your choice from the Smoothies and Juices guide
12:30 Lunch Sprout Salad
What you need:
What you do:
Get a bowl and add your crushed toasted cumin seeds,
the oil, herbs, vinegar, garlic, sea salt, and a little black pepper and mix. Add all other ingredients and toss well.
3 pm Mid-Afternoon Snack;
Nuts, Seeds –the amount that you can fit in your hand.
4 pm Herbal Tea of your choice
6 pm Temple Soup;

Warm oil in the pan and really gently pan fry the onions, carrot until softened add the garlic and soften but don’t let them burn, because they go bitter
add the mushrooms and tomatoes and pan-fry a bit longer
then add the stock, bring to boil then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 30 mins.
7:30 pm Warm lemon (as morning)
Last thing – before bed,
Shredded Lettuce hearts and/or Celery stalks for a snack if you need them
You must go to bed by 9:30 pm.
Listen to a relaxation in bed.
If you really HAVE to, during the day…have a peeled apple if you are starving.

FAQ
My local shop doesn’t sell shiitake mushrooms!
Normal mushrooms will be fine as a substitute. Shiitake have a stronger flavour and denser texture – substitute with what you have available
I normally do a double exercise class on the planned detox day – is this ok?
You can do what you normally would – however some folk find that they are more tired in the detox day – so allowing yourself to take it easier than you would do, or seeing if there is a yoga class that you could do?
I haven’t tried some of the ingredients on the detox shopping list!!
The Project is all about trying new things – keep an open mind
I know I don’t like some of the ingredients on the detox shopping – I am worried
If you know that there is something that you have tried before and really can’t stomach – then you can leave it out, or substitute for something else that would be a good replacement
