Been a bit Introspective.
So I’m owning up.
Things I like (today);
- Seeing what amazing people my children are
- Dancing
- Being on the beach
- Netflix
- Food
- Reading Books
- Podcasts (full-blown addict)
- Rollercoasters
- Helping people sort out their problems based on things I have learned through making my own epic balls-ups. One seems to negate the other (although thinking about that has lead me to a revelation..and it’s not necessarily a pain-free one – that is tomorrow’s email)
Looking nice in the nude
Things that annoy me (today);
People judging other people (although I have been in my younger days, less than perfect on that one.. probably why it annoys me)
Gossips (same reason as above)
How biassed the news is
People bragging about shoes and handbag purchases that cost six hundred quid when people they know, even family members, are busting a gut to make ends meet.
The fact I waste time and procrastinate
Being told what to do in any way from anyone.
My own expectations. (I am a fitness instructor – must maintain perfect body at all times, apparently)
Someone said to me the other day: “Wow – I envy your energy”.
Which was very sweet, but left me feeling a bit of a charlatan.
I CAN do lots of energy – yep – strap a mic on, or put me in the PT Studio and I can do ‘extreme energy mode’.
Truth is, I can also do 15 in hours in bed mode’, too.
Or ‘I really could do without the school run’ mode, because I really am not in the mood to talk to anyone at all. That happens.
While I am in the confessional, Father – I dont LOVE burpees.
There, I’ve said it.
I mean I can do them, and they work, and so on I like what they do to me. Truth is, I always love the feeling AFTER a workout… and unless it is dance related…rarely BEFORE one.
But it is never a ‘OMG I can’t wait to get REALLY out of breath and go bright red’
kind of situation.
So when people come to FitCamp or PT I won’t hit them with the “hey guys – let’s BURN some calories. Beast mode ON’ guff.
(While we are on the subject, pet hate, if I go to a class/watch a workout where they call people ‘GUYS’ all the time ….I am pretty much straight out of there. Gets on my t^ts.)
Not sure why. Must be my age.
So if that has shattered your illusions and you need to find someone more ‘fitnessy’ to do your fitness with – I can point you to any number of shiny, young, enthusiastic pep-machines.
The point is this:
People get an impression on how things are going to be, and what someone is like –
based on assumptions.
With no basis in any actual evidence.
There is a woman who just started FitCamp that had been messaging Katherine and I
almost hourly for a week:
“what if I can’t do that” “what if I need to sit down” “will I be the fattest”
“will I have to do anything on my own in front of people”
I don’t want this to sound condescending… but I have heard this all before.
From practically EVERYONE that has ever enquired about coming.
- So rather than repeat myself
- FitCamp/PT FAQs…(well the answers)
- Yes you will be fine
- No you won’t have to do any dancing
- Yes there are other overweight people there. Why do you think they are there?
- Yes people are friendly
- No-one is bitchy – people like that tend not to be drawn to what we do and we wouldn’t put up with any of that nonsense anyway.
- Yes you will get up if you set the alarm and get a reasonably early night
- Yes it will be a laugh
- No, no one will be watching you (other than Katherine and that’s to keep you safe)
- No it won’t matter if you can’t do some of the exercises to begin with
- No you wont feel nervous
- Yes we can probably work round your joint niggles
- Check with your doctor if you’re not sure – that’s just common sense
- No I won’t promise you will DEFINITELY drop a dress size (you probably will but you are only there for 2 1/4 hours a week…if you stuff your face with Galaxy and Doritos the rest of the time then you definitely won’t)
- Yes you will be proud of yourself
- Very proud of yourself.
- Katherine understands how you feel better than anyone – have a look at her fitcamp BEFORE & AFTER pictures (not in the first month obviously…but you see how she GETS it, right?)
Hopefully that’s covered everything.
No whooping, no annoying unnecessary stuff.
We’ll just make it as fun, painless and effective as we can.
And be really nice to you.
