Let it bed in, tweak, rinse and repeat…
This does seem a bit of a cheat one, but it’s important.
Let your Life Purpose statements bed in for 24 hours.
As before – write them up/display somewhere you can see them.
There is good science to support the fact that the process of writing them by hand makes your brain take particular notice.
The action of forming the words when you write with a pen is like carving it into your memory.
You are physically creating something.
It’s the connection between dexterity, muscle memory and novel stimulus in the cerebellum.
There is a direct link between emotions and writing.
Thinking it,
Writing it, and
Seeing it,
takes time and effort which turns that thought into a tangible reality.
That, in itself, produces an emotion.
This is what you want.
This emotion will tell you whether you are on track or not.
TOP TIP:
If you want to seriously bring your Life Purpose Statements to life:
record them as a voice note on your phone and play it to yourself when you wake up in the morning / throughout the day.
Trust me.
Sounds a bit bonkers.
Doesn’t matter – it works.
Hearing what you want, in your voice lands well with your subconscious mind – it feels authentic, safe and convincing.
Your subconscious mind is largely in life’s driving seat (or at the very least a nagging backseat driver) – as you probably know.
Get that instinctive, emotional, habitual part of your brain on board and it’s going to be a much smoother ride.
At the end of a day living with your Life Purpose Statements,
spend some time breathing well, clearing your mind and considering your statements.
Do they still feel right?
Do any feel particularly exciting?
Are there any that need a tweak?
Do any seem as though they might not be for you?
Refine as necessary.
