You do a wee on a stick and then everything changes.
Suddenly you are catapulted into a routine of medical checks,
nappies, bottles, night feeds, nursery visits, preschool and school runs (allow 2 hours a day) Brownies, Cubs, football and dance classes, trips to the dentist/doctors, parent evenings, being robbed blind by shoe shops, packed lunches, P.E. kits, making a Bee/Roman/Angel/Donkey costume, homework (you end up doing most of it, did anyone tell you that?).
Much of it is a bit boring, lots of it is rather lovely – but ALL of it…is inevitable.
And relentless.
(Don’t worry – it eases up after the first 25 years….)
We like this Blog/emails to be full of admiration for you, useful tips and hopefully, support for you in getting through everything.
For today, though – let’s flipping ignore the whole thing.
Remember YOU?
The pre-wee-stick you.
The you, full of dreams, ambitions, things you wanted to see and experience – and feel.
We want to help you get back in touch with those feelings, because that is the you that is going to make the current you much happier.
You are maxed out.
Next year will be the same.
If not worse.
Call a spade a spade.
New Year’s Resolutions are basically an admission of:
“I’ve failed.
I didn’t live how I wish I did last year…and many of the years before.
But THIS year I am going to ADD to my already maxed out life
by trying to change everything at once.
No boozing, lots of exercise, no chocolate or cake.
Loads of sleep, 2l of water a day – all of that kind of stuff.
I am going to transform everything, deny myself the things I like, do exercise that I don’t really want to do..
and somehow this year will be different.
I will change everything on Jan 1st and keep it up forever.
Oh and I will do this all by myself.”
But life keeps cominatcha, and the good intentions will somehow one by one go out of the window.
(maybe not – but if you are like 99% of other women…most likely)
And you will blame yourself.
It’s all negative. Denial. Huge pushes of effort. Exhaustion.
Envy of those who seem to have it all sorted.
A yearly cycle of built-in Failure.
New Year’s Resolutions only exist because you finish Christmas in the same bloody state you were in last New Year.
If it was going to happen… it probably would have by now.
Got to get real. And give yourself a break.
Most things are more important than being a size 10 with sculpted abs – but nothing is more important than your health and happiness.
You need a MUCH more POSITIVE substitution for New Year’s Resolutions
one that is GUARANTEED to give you a much better year than 2015.
A plan which focusses on the pre-wee-stick you.
We need to get you a BUCKET LIST.
A bucket list is simply a list of all those things you things you want to do, you display it, you tick them off as you go and you make sure everyone knows they are IMPORTANT.
So take some time to write yours, get a cuppatee, put on some music and get writing.
It might take you a little while, and you can add to it (when you get inspired) and sometimes cross things off (if you go off an idea).
Here’s another:
They can be epic things, or tiny things or a combination.
Doesn’t matter.
We would love to see your list. (I mean seriously – write back to us with yours – we always answer)
Have a great day – and SERIOUSLY make this list – it will change your life and put all the other stuff into perspective.
Life is about how you FEEL – not feeling, is not really living.
(Whether if it is nervous, apprehensive, passionate or elated)
To feel – you have to DO.
Work with us….
The Project is a structured, supported, alternative to New Year’s resolutions.
It is made up of tiny little things to DO… in all areas of your life, a baby step in the right direction every day.
Where you’re not on your own.
Little steps are what work; they are sustainable – and get you there permanently,
Done right, they pretty soon add up to a massive change.
You just have to keep facing in the right direction.
