I had it bad…
(and yes, of course it was THAT kind of Coke)
I visited someone the other day, that I haven’t seen for a few years.
As we caught up and pretended each other hadn’t aged one little bit… she said “don’t worry – I got loads of Coke in”.
I’d forgotten that. That’s one thing that friends KNEW about me “she drinks Coke”.
Lots of it.
Almost exclusively.
I would drink a Coke and then want another one. (You may have seen me bang on at length about the dental implant that was the result)
This email is not to tell you how really bad for you Coke is. It really really is. You know that. You know it will make you fatter than the Big Mac that you buy to go with it.
Diet Coke is just as bad for different reasons.
Anyway what I wanted to really try and persuade you to know.
And that it is not a sales pitch – it is actual truth.
Is when you think about YOUR thing that you know you need to sort out, is that done right – it isn’t going to be a lifetime of denying yourself.
That’s overwhelming.
When you are big – exercise is bloody hard. Everything leaves you exhausted and you start with this crazy push of effort. But you will end up loving it. Missing it if you don’t.
Same with sugary things. (even the sugar-free versions which are arguably worse for your health)
It IS an addiction – you crave it. (I couldn’t concentrate on conversations if I was thinking about Coke)
But now. And this is the point.
I. DON’T. WANT. IT.
I am naturally hedonistic, and have the biggest ‘SOD it – I’ll have what I want’, mentality.
It is just managing the transition that can make or break.
If you’re doing it by yourself please keep that in mind – it won’t always be
It won’t always be this hard, and eventually, it will become easy if you can get over the first bit.
Wean yourself off – but don’t LET yourself off.
Plan for how you are going to manage the phasing out.. and stick to your plan.
And always keep in mind WHY you’re doing this.
