Watch Live Sport

(I know – hear me out)

Amy and I went to a roller hockey game once.
I literally knew NOTHING about the game.

(Amy had trained the team for their fitness, so she had a fair idea – also she’s a sports person/athlete – so there isn’t a game that’s going to be TOO alien for her)

Also, she used to play normal hockey at National level.. so.. yanno.

For me though, I can hold my own in most dance studios – but the competitive sports scene throws up a severe lack of data on my part.

(Apart obviously except for a recent glimpse into the fascinating world of Strongman/Woman – SO exciting)

However – I would have thought roller hockey wasn’t my bag – and whilst I have no interest in playing – watching was REALLY interesting.

I learned a little about the rules, cheered for the home team, and chatted to people.

So today, my invitation to you, in the interests of variety – is go and find a game/match/meet/competition to watch.

Something that maybe you’ve loved at the Olympics – but haven’t seen in real life.

Maybe head down to your local track and watch the athletics
Support a local football or rugby side (if that’s something you don’t normally do).
Ice Hockey is SUPER fast and exciting, with so much going on (and there’s always hot chocolate)

Have a look online, or ask friends if you can tag along with a sports event they take part in/support.

No matter what sport it is, each team generally comes with a sense of history, tradition, and its own type of camaraderie that fans love.

Especially with the bigger competitions, once you walk into the arena/pitch/dojo or whatever for the first time you can feel that sense of excitement and occasion.
Or when the game actually starts and the crowd roars.

Even if you are not a newly-converted fan by the time the game’s over, you can say you tried something new, outside of your comfort zone.

…. which is what this month is about.

So – what’s it to be?
