A quick one, but if you get your head around it… it’s a game changer.
This time I want you to scan your mind for a time that was the polar opposite of yesterday.
Find:
A time that you lost your temper.
When something or someone drove you mad.
You felt shaken, triggered, frustrated, or tearful.
Close your eyes and imagine the whole scene – as though you were watching it on a screen.
Pay attention to the ‘you’ in the scene.
- What was happening?
- What did you feel?
- How did you react?
Can you identify:
What value or values were being challenged?
When we have a strong reaction to events; fly off the handle, go berserk, burst into tears or blurt something out – and maybe that reaction seemed disproportionate, or ‘out of character’ –
Often what’s happening is that one of our important values not being met – or even challenged or suppressed.
These reactions come up when things are not in alignment with one of our important core values.
They just feel WRONG.
By identifying the things that stoke your flame and provoke massive reactions, you learn valuable lessons
You get to the naked truth about what is most important to you.
ACTION:
- Identify some of your Anti-values.
- What caused the big reactions – and what value was being challenged each time?
- Can you think of 2 or 3?
