I’m going to be a bit presumptuous.
If I’m totally wrong, I apologise – but I’m going to go for it because it’s important.
I know the world has gone insane, however – I’d like you to imagine one of your typical days.
If you’ve got a pen handy, I really think you should do this.
Question 1:
What do you do during the hours below?
(this is just for you, so be really honest)
for example:
4pm – 5pm Check book-bags, make snack, load dishwasher,
or
4pm – 5pm Zoom Meeting, send invoices, supervise homework
Whatever it usually or often is.
Doesn’t matter if there are lots of the same things
Do this for your lockdown or non-lockdown schedule.
Doesn’t really matter.
Whatever feels most relevant.

Question 2:
Look at the answers from question 1.
Circle all the things that are things that you do for someone else
(e.g children, partner, boss, family, staff)
and
cross out anything that feels like wasted time.
(i.e. mindless scrolling, trashy TV)

Question 3:
Look at the answers from question 1 again.
Place a star by all the things that;
Move you further towards your big goals in life.
Feels like time really well spent.
Make you feel really happy.
Fill you with energy.
Help you feel calm and stress-free.
Make you feel fit, strong, and healthy.
OK this is the presumptuous bit.
If you have children – I know you love them.
That’s a given.
(They may drive you up the wall, but technically that’s their job)
I’m talking about you.
I’m guessing that you have a lot of circles.
And not many stars.
Not many at all.
If I’m wrong – I am delighted.
Good for you.
You’re smashing life.
Thanks for reading – you can go now, have a lovely day.

But if you’re still here (like most people) then I apologise that that might have made for slightly depressing reading.
Let’s add stuff, while we’re here.
Maybe you cook different meals for different people in the house.
In non-lockdown times… spending lots of time in the car going to the same places.
Tidying the same things over and over.
It might not be those things.
You are great at what you do.
Life isn’t supposed to be that hard.
This isn’t a criticism at all.
We have all been there.
But even with a full energy battery when that alarm went off
(I’m guessing it might not be)
All those other people you do stuff for, drain it a little.
Each one… a little more.
And a little more…
That’s OK – sometimes it’s how it has to be.
Picture a torch with a low battery.
I mean, it switches on – but it doesn’t shine as brightly.
Just about works enough to get you where you need to be.
the annoying thing is:
IT’S A REALLY F*CKING EXCELLENT TORCH
If at the end of the day your battery is empty,
what’s left for you?
Your hopes, dreams, goals and ambitions.
The things you wanted to be – and do?
Are those things selfish?
Or are they what you deserve?
How would you like to feel?
How DO you feel?
I promise you something.
It doesn’t have to be like that.
You CAN recharge your battery every day.
With enough left over to have a page full of stars.
Where the circled bits streamlined and simplified
so they don’t feel like a ballache.
Feel the way you want to feel.
I promise you can.
If you’re up for it.
That’s what Human Upgrade is for.
That’s what you’re for.
Shining so bright – you’ll make people squint.
I won’t lie, you have to put some work in.
But we’ll help you.

p.s. doing stuff for you, using some of those hours to get more stars, recharging your battery and energy makes you BETTER at doing great stuff for other people.
It shows your children how life should be.
The adults they can be.
Inspires the people around you to do the same.
It’s never selfish.
You do know that, right?
