No one tells you this
So Eloise – a lady we have been working with.
Doing the fully coached version of The Project,
Jumped out of an aeroplane on Wednesday.
You don’t realise what I just said there.
Eloise.
Eloise, who doesn’t do heights.
Eloise, whose mum did the school run because she felt so shy of standing alone at the school gates.
Eloise, who turned down most invitations for the past twenty years – because the panic they caused did not justify the risk of having a good time.
Amazing Eloise – who taught her children to read in English and speak in her native French – BEFORE they even started school.
Who had her shopping delivered because the chat at the checkout was sometimes just too much to deal with.
Whose biggest fear was heights.
She jumped out of a light aircraft – strapped to a 6ft hairy dude called Aaron.
And I don’t think I can make a full-blown, wordy email about this.
Her message – and she was FERVENT that we share it with you…
And totally fully formed in three words, is this:
Don’t think – JUMP.
If you know you need to do something,
if you need to go for the promotion, hand in your notice, go to the bank about that business start up loan…
If you need to go for a run, give up the fags, have a difficult conversation..
If you have been meaning to get round to it, are thinking about it, are weighing up the pros and cons…
If you are waiting for that perfect time, or when things are quieter, or after half term…
Or when you’re in a better place..
If you know you need to tackle the fear of heights that meant you couldn’t take your children on holiday in a plane…
Stop thinking.
JUMP.
When you know something in your heart is right – you are already standing on the high diving board.
Waiting to jump.
Some people stay on the diving board, peeking over the top, thinking about the fall, the temperature of the water, building up the courage… forever.
The water doesn’t go away.
And there’s the pressure of knowing that people are climbing the steps…
You can move out of the way and let them pass – and still the water’s there below, waiting.
And you’re wishing you had already jumped.
Some people stay on the diving board forever – never knowing what could have come next.
If you mean to do that workout and can’t decide whether it’s too cold today – don’t think.
Just Jump.
Just do it.
Like 80 year old you, would take 2018 you,
by both hands and tell you with urgency to your face!
Jump
And then it’s done.
- Then it’s euphoria
- It’s Pride
- Then Its a realisation that you made an artificial prison in your own head – and the stuff out there that you see people achieve… is available to you too.
Whatever that thing is, we urge you, Eloise urges you – to JUMP.
So you know what’s on the other side.
