Love and Connection – Work
Argh – I hate my Job.
There’s always a degree of repetitiveness in work, and when you work with people, there are bound to be ups and downs.
But when consistently;
- You’re just going through the motions
- Your job is making you feel bad.
- You’ve lost interest.
It may be time to think about your options.
A study by Jobslist in 2021 has shown that statistically, those who had changed their jobs in the previous year were Happier, More Fulfilled, Less Stressed, and Enjoy their new roles more than the one before.
80% wished they’d made the change years ago!
That means 20% didn’t…
If you do find a new job to hop to – some things to bear in mind…
- You may forgo some of the benefits of being in a company for a while – or even need to take a cut in pay.
- Often there is a probationary period – so there will be some financial insecurity to consider.
- If your income is essential to the family pursestrings – do you have a buffer?
- It might not be what you thought it would be.
- Sometimes the reality of working in a role isn’t quite as it was advertised (or you imagined)
Try to talk to people already in the role or a similar one to find the ‘warts and all’ feedback.
Starting anything new, even if it’s fun – is stressful.
You are on high alert as you learn new systems and meet new people – and that’s exhausting.
Bear in mind whether that’s right for you – and whether new stress outweighs the old one.
Leaving employment altogether.
If you’re going it alone, make sure that you can do without a reliable income for a while and be realistic about the time it might take to build your business.
Everything takes longer than you think, and days will be much longer than when you were employed –
at least at the start.
Make sure you LOVE what you are moving to –
as it’s going to take epic levels of commitment and energy.
However, the rewards can be incredible.
And also potentially catastrophic.
