This was us the other day.
(Claire’s behind the camera)
We tipped each of our 2 youngest children out of their beds – to go ‘Sunflower Picking’.
I have never used that phrase before yesterday.
The reason I hadn’t heard it before, is because near where we live – it hadn’t happened before.
This particular sunflower farmer (how cool a job title is that?) usually supplies wholesalers.
They supplied places like hotels and other hospitality/retail
which were closed during lockdown.
Families (with lots of teeny tiny tiddlers) turned up,
raced out of the car shouting SUNFLOWERRRRRRS
and then charged off down never-ending rows of giant flowers.
Was cute and scrummy.
Parents paid a tenner, chose secateurs from a big box, and harvested their own.
Some other farmers had crops sadly go to waste during lockdown.
And for lots of them – that was just unavoidable.
This one turned a disaster into a family day out.
He came up with an elegant solution.
People were making great memories, and he made what looked to be a reasonable amount of cash.
I talked the other day about dealing with uncertainty,
(If you missed that, you can read about it HERE)
and how one of the things that help, is working out what you CAN do.
It struck me that this was a genius Win : Win example.
He worked out what he could do, and he did it.
It wasn’t what he’d expected to do.
And was fecking brilliant.
Just wanted to tell you 🙂
Are you in our excellent FREE Inner Circle? If not we’d love to see you there.
If you are… come and say COO-EEEE.
HERE
Lots of love
